The Effects of Vaping

01/01/2019

Vaping affects the body by putting harmful chemicals into it. Flavored vape juices have more harmful chemicals in them than non-flavored. Many are attracted to flavored vape as compared to non-flavored vape, especially young adults. Flavored vape juices include cancer causing chemicals. Formaldehyde, a substance used as an antiperspirant to treat sweat as well as smell, is included in the makeup of vape juice. Heavy metal particles get stuck into the lungs when vaping. Chemicals in vape juices also have direct effects on the body, such as irritation. "Chemicals in e-cigarettes can irritate the airways in your lungs" (Martin). Diacetyl is a chemical included in certain vaping products that is linked to the terrible lung disease, "bronchiolitis obliterans." This disease is known as popcorn lung. Popcorn lung affects the tiny air sacs in human lungs. It cannot be cured and can only be stopped from getting worse with medication. This can be avoided if vaping is avoided. Vaping is extremely dangerous as, "more research is needed to understand the long-term health risks of vaping." (Martin.) There could be much more and or worse side effects to vaping that are unknown.
